My name is Carol VanDeaver and I am excited to begin my fourth year at North Lamar ISD and to be a Panther. This year kick offs my 10th year in education. Prior to dyslexia, I taught kindergarten for six years and 4th/5th ELAR one year. I love watching students grow and learn while they reach their expectations at their own pace. The greatest feeling in the world is seeing a child succeed and to enjoy learning!
My husband, Jody, and I have been married since 2001. We have five children. Chloe (17) is a Junior at Prairiland High School and loves playing the flute in the band, twirling her color guard flag and rifle in the marching band, and playing sports. Evian (7) is a Higgins First Grader and is the smartest and most lovable lil girl ever. She’s a people pleaser, loves to be outside, jump on the trampoline, and ride her scooter. Ian (6) is a Higgins Kindergartener and loves tractors, riding his bike and the Gator, and following behind every step Daddy makes. He loves to make others laugh and is the life of the party. Abigail (5) is full of sass and is joing big sis and bro this year as a Higgins Pre-K’er! She loves all animals, catching the chickens, watching Kids YouTube, and making a mess. The littles absolutely love school and being a Higgins Panther! We also have Zayleigh (3) who is a little doll that almost always has the biggest and prettiest grin and has the best personality; except the terrible two’s and three’s are currently being expressed). We are a foster home and have the blessed opportunity to love on many, many children of all ages. If you ever have time, I’d love to share our story with you. :) We also have a Sheepadoddle dog named Maggie, an Old English Sheepdog named Indie, a Shih Tzu dog named Thomas, a black cat named Socks, chickens and cows. We love to be outside, being on the lake, being with family and friends, and the most southern thing of all, eating! LOL!
